Crape Myrtle seedpods silhouetted against the autumn leaves. I liked how the shape of the dried branch echoed that of the red tree behind it.

The fall colors in NC are beautiful in October. Leaves in the mountains are at their peak now; here in the Piedmont, the best color will probably be around Nov 1.

We Love Pumpkins, Yes We Do...

Every October, the front lawn of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church is transformed into a giant pumpkin patch. Today, I saw how 45,000 pounds of pumpkins arrive there. They come on a big truck and are unloaded one at a time and are passed from hand to hand down a long human chain.
